VII Km Vertical do Fall – The oldest Vertical Km in Portugal

The “enchanted forest” of Fanal hosted the 7th edition of Fanal Vertical Km. The race that was organised by Clube de Montanha do Funchal connects Ribeira Funda to Fanal, in a uphill trail with 3980 mas in extension with an ascending of 1000 metres.

As for results, Joana Soares from ACD Jardim da Serra was the winner in the ladeia with a time of 43:56, under 5 minutes than the previous race record dates from 2016 from Cristina Nascimento. Second placê was taken by Luísa Freitas, Grupo Desportivo do Estreito with 49:22, followed by Camila João from Clube Escola do Estreito with 51:50. Off note that Joana Soares with this mark took 3rd place in the General classification with says a lot about the momentum of the athlete. Congratulations Joana.
In the men, Vítor Jesus from Clube de Montanha do Funchal showed us why he is one of the best Sky Runners of Portugal, with a time of 40:22. In the second place was António Abreu from ACD Jardim da Serra As a final note say that the race was, as usual, very well organised by Clube de Montanha do Funchal, with the paths well marked and clean, nice stuff and volunteers and a good meal at the end. The only complaints that i’ve noticed were about the lack of lead and lungs for the race. Well Done Clube de Montanha 🙂
